Writing Music When You’re Sky High

I very rarely start a new track in my studio. I usually get inspired when I’m out and about. There’s no better example of this than when I’m flying on a plane.

I wrote and recorded Flying Home in 2004. Back then, the idea of making music on an aircraft was very unique. Nowadays I’m sure it’s an everyday occurrence, but I still think it’s a wonderful place to write.

There really is something quite magical about being above the clouds and moving across the sky. It never gets old for me. It’s always been a source of constant inspiration. Flying Home, Fly By Night and Turbulence are just a few of the tracks I’ve written whilst in the air.

That’s why I’ve always got my laptop, iPad or OP-Z if I know I’ll be travelling (especially if it’s by airplane).
